Investor Profiles

Overview #

Investor profiles are the most comprehensive profile type, designed for individuals and firms deploying capital into the ecosystem. This profile is built around transparency and thesis-alignment, featuring three specialized sections that detail your financial capacity, investment criteria, and historical track record.

Specialized Investor Sections #

Unlike other profiles, the Investor type utilizes three distinct data modules to communicate your investment thesis to founders and partners.

1. Investor Snapshot

This section establishes your professional identity and financial scale.

  • Investor Type: Your structural role (e.g., Angel Investor, Venture Capitalist, Family Office, or Corporate VC).
  • Investment Range: Your typical “check size” or investment window per deal.
  • Current Fund Size: The total capital pool or active fund you are currently deploying.
  • Number of Exits: A key metric of your historical success and liquidity events.

2. Venture Focus

This defines your “Investment Thesis,” helping founders determine if they are a fit before reaching out.

  • Stage Focus: The maturity level of companies you back (e.g., Pre-Seed, Seed, Series A, or Growth).
  • Industry Focus: The specific sectors or technologies you prioritize.
  • Geographic Focus: The regions or countries where you are legally or strategically mandated to invest.

3. Portfolio Companies

A dynamic section to showcase the ventures you have previously backed. Each entry is managed individually and includes:

  • Company Name & Website: Direct links to your portfolio’s digital presence.
  • Industry: The sector the company operates in.
  • Investment Stage: The specific stage at which you joined the cap table.

Profile Visibility & Management #

Investor profiles are designed to filter out noise, ensuring that the “What Others See” section provides a clear roadmap for founders.

What the Community Sees:

  • The Header: Branding, location, and the Investor profile tag.
  • The Overview: Your narrative on your investment philosophy and value-add beyond capital.
  • The Triple-Threat Display: Your Snapshot, Venture Focus, and Portfolio modules.

What Only You See (When Editing):

  • Portfolio Manager: Use the “Add Another” button to build a structured list of investments. Each entry can be edited or removed individually.
  • Social Media: Links to your professional presence or firmโ€™s website.
  • Account Setup: Private administrative fields (Name and Nickname).
  • Completion Widget: Tracks the completeness of your thesis to ensure you appear in relevant searches.

Best Practices for Investors #

  1. Be Precise with “Stage Focus”: If you only do Series A, marking “Pre-Seed” will result in irrelevant deal flow. Keep this updated to save your time and the founders’.
  2. Highlight Your Exits: Transparency regarding exits builds significant prestige and trust within the venture community.
  3. Use the Portfolio for Social Proof: A well-maintained portfolio section is your strongest marketing tool. It shows founders the “company they will keep” if they take your investment.
